Part 1 of our crazy 24-hour roadtrip to Amsterdam. These first four photos are just a couple of random shots of our car ride, and of getting ass-backwards lost in the Holland countryside; I was asleep for most of the trip, to be honest.
Hanging out at a random cafe in the Holland countryside, Ricardo and Karin gathering their wits again before heading out.
Me, loving it all. "I can't believe I'm lost in the Netherlands! This is the best!"
Next five photos: The Sloterdijk suburban Metro station. To quote the Simpsons: "This is creative design run amok! Everything looks like it's from the not-too-distant future!"
The Amsterdam main train station! Unfortunately, like almost every other rail station I've been to in Europe, this one is also under perpetual construction, and isn't nearly as pretty as it could be.
Next five photos: The area around the train station - as always, filled with tourist shops, cheap hotels, African fone centres, and money exchanges. Never the best view you'll get of a European city, but always the first.
Next three photos: The plaza where the National Monument is located.
Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum, also found in this particular plaza.
Next six photos: One of the several shopping districts of Amsterdam's central city, this one on Rokin and making our way southwest of the central train station.
The area around Rembrandt park and plaza, on the south tip of the tourist district - your best bet in Amsterdam's central city for finding cool laid-back slackers just like yourself.
The series isn't over yet! Click here for more photos from my 24 hours in Amsterdam.
