All photos for this book were shot with the Treo 600 Palmphone camera. It is a VGA camera, with a maximum quality of 0.3 megapixels, resulting in a maximum image size of 640 by 480 pixels. In addition, I used a special piece of software for taking these photos, called "Pickem" (shareware, beta version 0.5; Google the name to find the latest version) which enhances the built-in software found on the Treo. (For those who already use this program - my Qsetting for the majority of these photos was 80, except for those shot during Salon Franco, which were set at 99.) For the web version of these photos, I first shrunk the original image by half (that is, to a final image size of 320 by 240 pixels); I then reduced the blue tint by 40 percent, increased the brightness of most by 20 percent, and increased the contrast of most by 10 percent. (The exceptions are the photos showing a lot of sky, where the blue tint was not decreased; and nighttime indoor shots, where the contrast was still changed but not the brightness.) All photo manipulation was done in Adobe Photoshop for Macintosh; photos were then compressed using Adobe ImageReady.
