-avatar-: Invite-hungry smarta*ses wanted

As long as I'm getting readers refreshed today on upcoming plans, I wanted to remind everyone that I'm currently looking for a contributing staff for my new adults-only magazine and blog, -avatar-, opening in about a month. The goal, in fact, is to publish three to six short articles there each day, much more like a traditional blog, ranging from essays to interviews to review, photography, machinima and more.

Now obviously, at least for the first several months, pay is not going to be a big motivating factor to why one might becoming a contributing editor; it's only L$600 a month, after all, or 10 percent of the profits that month, whichever amount is larger. So, you might ask, what are the perks of contributing high-quality original work to -avatar- once the publication is open? Oh, I'm so glad you asked!

--First of all, as a high-profile adults publication, I'm expecting to get a lot of invitations to cool events (you hearing me, events producers?). Being a staff member of -avatar- would get you access to these invites, ones that in many cases you would not hear about or secure if an individual blogger.

--Second, in that one of the things I want to regularly post is regular reviews of adult businesses, sometimes contributors will have access to swag; an occasional comped night, some free clothing, etc. You'll be required to disclose this in your article; as long as you do, though, as far as I'm concerned you're welcome to accept it as well, and to write humorously about whether or not it affected your finished entry.

--Third, it will hopefully give you access to a much larger audience than if you were to start up a new Blogspot page or MySpace account on your own; daily readership here at ITG right now, for example, is over 4,000 people, and I'm expecting to match that number at -avatar- quite quickly after opening. Being a contributor to -avatar- is a better choice than a new individual blog, for those seeking a wide exposure and increased professional opportunities.

--Fourth, in that I'm open to multiple forms of adult media, -avatar- will be an opportunity for a group of those who don't have many; those, for example, who produce erotic machinima, or who take erotic photos but don't have a place online to post them. I encourage visual artists and podcasters to contact me about a spot on staff, as well as those who primarily write.

--And fifth, and possibly most important, you'll most likely end up getting made fun of at Valleywag. And aren't you excited about that!

Anyway, for more on what type of contributor I'm looking for, please see the official announcement about -avatar's- opening; and if you're interested just drop me a line with some sample/spec work to inthegrid [at] gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you!
