Some things in the grid simply aren't safe for work. Too bad it's your favorite subject anyway.
Your opinion wanted! It's an undeniable fact, that the articles here at ITG that get the biggest interest are the ones having to do with sex; but it's also true what our critics say, that those articles here don't delve as fully into the subject as they could, and certainly not as much as an adults-only publication. There are reasons for that -- partly to keep this website safe for work environments, partly because some of ITG's reader base simply doesn't want to read or view things too explicit, and other such reasons; it's hard to argue, though, that such articles generate a ton of attention and repeat viewings here.
So I've been toying around lately with an idea -- to start yet another new SL publication (daily blog and monthly magazine), one designed specifically for adults only. I wouldn't charge money for it, or require a credit card to view or anything; just that I thought it'd be only fair to shuttle all the explicit stuff off to its own dedicated space, so that one could deliberately avoid that space if one didn't want to come across such stuff. That said, if I were to start up such a thing, I would definitely want to make it something that discerning adults would find intriguing: smart Nerve-style articles about sexual topics, erotic and explicit photo essays, in-grid fan fiction and machinima, even regular reviews of escort services and other adult businesses. And instead of charging the public for it, I would set up a more complex advertising system there than the work-friendly ITG has, where vendors could place anything from an inexpensive text ad to a full-blown animated commercial, hopefully leading to more revenue than ITG generates as well. (I even have a cool possible name picked out for this theoretical publication, although of course I can't mention it unless I actually get the blog up and running.)
Anyway, just wanted to see what regular ITG readers think; if they'd be interested in such a thing, if they would patronize it, if it would provide enough of a "editorial wall" between adult subjects and the usual articles you find here at the work-friendly site. Given that most advertiser interest for ITG comes from adult vendors, as well as the most interest for our content, I thought this would be a good way to start providing such a thing, without making ITG something you have to avoid viewing during the day or at the office. You can leave your own thoughts in the comments below, or by writing me at inthegrid [at] gmail.com; also drop me a line if you'd be interested in being a contributor. (Yes, contributors would get paid; but not very much, and it'd have to be pretty good work.)
