FS1
is a type foundry established in 2002 by amateur fontologist Jason Pettus. It is meant to be a way for him to freely and easily distribute the experiments in typography that he is continually conducting, and also to karmically give back to the type community for all the shareware fonts he himself has downloaded over the years.

All typefaces at this site are in Truetype format for Macintosh and Windows platforms. (Please write to Jason at ilikejason at hotmail dot com if you are on a Sun or nEXT computer - he would be happy to make a version of these fonts for you as well.) These fonts are known as 'swapware' - that is, free to download and use noncommercially, but with a moral obligation to send something to the author in return, like a book, CD, t-shirt, other fonts, or plain old cash. More details on swapware can be found in your "README" file included with each download.

DISCLAIMER: Jason Pettus is not a professional typographer. Art directors and others in the design industry may discover some frustrations concerning irregular kerning and minor inconsistences in x-heights. Rest assured that these details continue to get better with each new font.
