In the summer of 1999 I asked myself an intriguing question - "I wonder if my writing skills are good enough yet that I could convincingly pass myself off as a woman on the internet?" I decided to put myself to the test by opening up an anonymous online diary under the name of "Margaret," a fiery former punk-rocker now in her thirties and living a slacker lifestyle in the heart of Chicago. The project lasted three months and was more successful than in my wildest dreams; I've collected the diary entries (and readers' comments) into this book so that you can read along too.
