Okay, just for clarity's sake let me explain what happened. I've been talking with Matador recently about the band. Nothing fancy, nothing serious, just a little drunken talk down at South by Southwest with some guys, just a little "hey that was a pretty good set" kinda talk. So these guys call and Pavement's doing their annual Louisville show and they thought of me 'cause I'm such a big fan and do I want to come down, 'cause Gerard's going to be there and we can finally have a little more serious talk about Creamed Corn and a possible future with Matador. So I ask Deb if she wants to come along and she's all excited, of course, it's going to be a great fuckin' show, so we call Southwest Airlines and get it all set up. And of course it is a great show. And I hang out with Gerard and I also get to hang out with Bob, not the one Bob but the other one, the one that does all that percussion stuff, and we all go out after the show, have some more drinks, do a little coke, talk about how it'd be cool if we opened for them when they played their Chicago shows next fall, and this is great, you know? And a couple of women are hanging out with us and I end up fucking one of them that night, some intern from Minty Fresh or something, nice girl, maybe a little too heavy but really knew her indie shit, you know? So the next day Deb asks me about everything that happened and I tell her and she gets all freaked out, which I totally wasn't expecting. And she's all, 'How could you do something like that while we're down here on this trip' and hey, you know, it's not a honeymoon, you know, we went through all this six months ago when I practically begged her to move in and she got all freaked out then about how she doesn't want to be dating a rock star and she needs this time by herself, and I say 'I thought that meant that everything was casual and cool between us.' And she says 'you don't understand' and I'm like, 'well yeah, if you want me involved with you exclusively why did you tell me that you didn't,' and then she starts crying and the whole thing just gets real ugly and it was a really quiet flight back to Chicago, I can tell you that. So now I don't know what to tell you. Deb and I are fucking again and she doesn't mention anything about Louisville so I guess everything's cool. I swear, I'm never gonna figure out women as long as I live.
